Technical Writer
We're looking for a Technical Writer who has a track record of owning docs, rather than just writing them.
You'll be responsible for the full documentation lifecycle of Traefik and Traefik Hub: strategy, structure, content creation, and quality. You'll work closely with our other technical writer and our engineering team to turn complex cloud-native concepts into clear, accurate, developer-friendly documentation.
This is not a "write what you're told" role. We need someone who can:
- Own the documentation strategy—Define what needs to be documented, how it should be structured, and in what order
- Write with authority—Produce clear, accurate, technically deep content about Kubernetes, Docker, API management, and cloud-native infrastructure
- Review and verify—Every piece of documentation must be tested against the actual product. We have zero tolerance for inaccuracy.
- Drive quality standards—Establish and maintain consistency in terminology, style, and structure across all documentation
- Collaborate with engineering—Work directly with developers to understand new features, architectural decisions, and implementation details
- Think developer-first—Our audience is infrastructure engineers and platform teams. Write for them, not for executives.
What We're Looking For
Must-have:
- Native English speaker with exceptional written communication skills
- 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for developer tools, infrastructure, or cloud-native products
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native ecosystems
- Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, CI/CD for docs)
- A track record of owning documentation, not just contributing to it
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Familiarity with Traefik or similar reverse proxies / API gateways
- Ability to read and understand code (Go preferred)
- Open-source community experience
- Previous experience in a remote-first company
What You'll Get
- Remote-first culture
- Direct impact on one of the most widely-used open-source projects in the world
- A team that values ownership, honesty, and getting things done
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of open-source and enterprise software
